Amidst a picturesque landscape of verdant trees, red-tiled roofs, the deep blue sea, and endless azure skies, alongside a backdrop of European-style architecture, French plane trees, and a vibrant palette of colors adorning every nook and cranny, a coastal gem nestled between the mountains and the sea emerges - this is Qingdao.

The ocean stands as one of Qingdao's most treasured assets and its most iconic hallmark. The Qingdao Garden at the Expo 2024 Chengdu is a masterful blend of Sichuan's rich landscape and the boundless sea, epitomizing the theme of "Park City, Beautiful Living," all while embracing the unique character of Qingdao as “vibrant coastal city, pleasant living environment.”

The design concept for Qingdao Garden draws its inspiration from the ocean and translates the city's unique character into a captivating landscape. Upon an on-site inspection, it becomes evident that Qingdao Garden spans a relatively elongated area, resembling the intertwined initials "C" for Chengdu and "Q" for Qingdao, seamlessly connected by a graceful "smile curve" symbolizing the harmonious relationship between these two cities.

Encompassing an area of approximately 1500 square meters, Qingdao Garden is gracefully positioned adjacent to the core architectural gem, the "Scattered Blossom Tower," and nestled alongside the Nanjing Garden and Wuhan Garden. Modeled after the Bridge and Huilan Pavilion, the primary entrance entices visitors with its unique pavement design, an ode to Qingdao's identity, showcasing a pattern reminiscent of seashells.

The main entrance vista stands at a total height of 7.8 meters and spans a maximum width of 13.5 meters. The architectural design is inspired by the structural framework of the Huilan Pavilion, harmoniously melding tradition with a modern architectural focal point.

The Expo 2024 Chengdu has witnessed the changing seasons of spring, summer, and autumn. The botanical design for the Qingdao Garden will focus on regional considerations, seasonal variations, and arrangement techniques to craft a lush and thematically distinctive plant landscape with rich layers.

In the selection and placement of flowering plants, a color scheme dominated by shades of blue, purple, and white prevails. Fast-blooming herbaceous varieties, capable of blooming for extended periods, take center stage, complemented by ornamental grasses. This dynamic design allows the garden to evolve its color palette with the shifting seasons, resulting in a vibrant and inviting contrast, exuding warmth and vivacity.
