The International Horticultural Exhibition 2024 Chengdu, with the theme of “Park City, Beautiful Habitat”, staged its grand opening on April 26 in Chengdu Eastern New Area.

The opening ceremony was celebrated amid festivity ushered in by the countdown of the event and enhanced by opera performances called “Flowers Blooming on Land of Abundance”, greeted by cheers of the audience at the venue.

The audience were thrilled with the following art performances with the theme of Sharing Prosperity, which highlighted the colors of the emblem of the event and multifold art forms. The atmosphere came to a climax when the song of Jasmine Flowers from Asia, the drum music from Africa, the song Go the Shears from Australia, the song Take Me Home, Country Roads from America and Fruhlingsstimmen (Voices of Spring) by Johann Strauss were put on stage.

The brilliant celebration concluded with the theme song of the event, Coming All the Way to City of Hibiscus, performed by four singers, and the appearance of dozens of volunteers from five continents, in costumes printed with images of representing flowers of their respective countries.

The event was officially launched amid cheers just after 11:00 on the morning of April 26, when people saw the “hibiscus flowers” coming out from the columns on both sides of the main stage.

Celebrations of the event were staged simultaneously at four sub-venues in the districts of Wenjiang,Pidu and Xinjin and Qionglai City.
