The awarding ceremony for the first special flower competition, Chinese Rose Competition, was held on the morning of April 27 at Tianfu International Hotel in Chengdu Eastern New Area. At the ceremony, which was presided over by Liu Xuemei, deputy secretary general of China Flower Association, vice chairman of China Flower Association Zhao Liangping issued appointment letters to the members of the judge panel, the head of the panel Zhang Zuoshuang explained on the criteria, and awards were given to the winners of the competition.

The competition, held on the same day of the opening of the International Horticultural Exhibition 2024 Chengdu, is part of the international flower competitions at the Chengdu Exhibition, which consist of outdoor garden competition and flower competitions of floral species. The competition attracted over 40 contesting parties from China and overseas, and awards for the Chinese Rose Competition went to six categories, i.e. the potted Chinese rose, flower designs, cut flowers, new varieties and landscape, with more than 400 exhibits, some 170 varieties including 43 new varieties on display, exceeding the numbers at the previous editions of the International Horticultural Exhibition.

All together, 21 top prizes, 36 gold prizes, 81 silver prizes and seven bronze prizes were awarded at the ceremony after the appraisal of the judge panel and the international supervision committee.

The award-winning exhibits of the competition will be put on display at the main venue of the Chengdu Exhibition, some of which at the Jinyun Tower, for the appreciation of visitor to the event after the ceremony and during the upcoming five-day Labor Day holiday, which begins on Wednesday.
