A group of experts on landscape for well-being and horticultural therapy from Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture and professionals in related fields on July 15 visited the main venue of the International Horticultural Exhibition 2024 Chengdu (Chengdu Expo) and had a discussion on the beneficial effects of plants on the physical and emotional health of people.

The symposium was held at Green Fitness Garden, a thematic garden highlighting the theory proposed by Prof. Li Shuhua from Tsinghua University who believes that the landscape of plants has curing functions for people.

“The Green Fitness Garden at the Chengdu Expo is a showcase of Green Life, and may provide a mode to inspire creative ideas for the development of landscape for well-being and horticultural therapy,” he said.

The design of the garden features the salubrious effects of plants on human senses and, according to Prof. Li, it serves a model for the landscape designs in places such as residential communities, houses for seniors and hospitals.
