A group of journalists attending the 2024 Media Cooperation Forum on Belt and Road, opened in Chengdu on August 28, paid a visit on August 30 to the main venue of the International Horticultural Exhibition 2024 Chengdu (the Expo).
The landscape and garden designs at the venue, with highlights of bamboo shaded crimson walls, the azalea scenery, Sichuan style Bonsai displays and so on, left a deep impression on the journalists, who recorded what they saw with their cellphones during the visit. They also had an aerial view of the whole venue at the top floor of the Jinyun Tower.
According to Huang Cong, chief designer of the Expo, the landscape design of the main venue draws inspiration from the fusion of a variety of natural and cultural elements in Chengdu, while the design of the gardens features the preservation of the vitality and terrestrial characteristics of its pristine state. “We have different flowers planted in the gardens to ensure that visitors can appreciate the sight of blooming flowers any time they come, which have attracted a large number of visitors since the opening of the Expo in April. The largest daily visit has exceeded 100, 000,” he said.
During their stay at Tianfu Life Mansion, a showcase of local life at the main venue, the journalists talked about the experience of the visit, sipping local tea and watching the performances of Sichuan Opera: “It’s a pleasure to have a look of so many different plants from across the world. What impressed us most is the plan of the use of the venue after the closing of the Expo. That’s really cool.”
