The awarding ceremony for the winners of the competition in the cotton hibiscus category, as a special international competition of the International Horticultural Exhibition 2024 Chengdu (the Expo), was held on September 26. Officials from the China Flower Association, Sichuan Flower Association, the Activity Group of the Publicity Department of the Executive Committee of the Expo, and Chengdu Flower Association attended the ceremony and presented certificates and trophies to the award winners of the Grand Award and Gold Award categories.

The competition featured three categories: New Hibiscus Varieties, Individual Hibiscus Plants, and Hibiscus Landscapes. A total of 236 exhibits from 11 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in China, as well as seven countries including France, Italy, Argentina, Russia, Thailand, New Zealand, and Spain, participated in the competition.

The Expo sets up two kinds of competitions—the Outdoor Garden Competition and the Flower and Horticulture Special Competition. Works of the Hibiscus Special Competition will be on display at the Shuchuan Zhuyun exhibition section of the main venue of the Expo until October 28.
