The main venue of the International Horticultural Exhibition 2024 Chengdu (the Expo) and its four sub-venues received nearly 1.19 million visitors during the 7-day National Day holiday, making the Expo a hot spot for tourists during the period and a hot discussion topic online, as well as a focus reported by some of China’s mainstream media such as people.com.cn, Xinhua News Agency, cctv.com, and ynet.com.

The Expo staged a variety of cultural activities throughout the holiday, such as light and shadow shows, artistic performances, and interactive games to create immersive cultural tourism experiences.

During the National Day holiday, the Expo hosted over 110 diverse cultural activities, including the 2024 AOF International Floristry Masters Finalists Exhibition, themed float parades, Feihualing contests, light and shadow shows, and iron striking performances, across 14 different scenes at the main venue. At the sub-venues, activities such as bonsai competitions attracted a large number of visitors.

The expo offered various preferential policies to attract visitors during the National Day holiday, for example, people dressed in Hanfu costumes enjoyed free admission. During the Double Ninth Festival from October 10 to 12,a free ticket policy was available for people over 60 years old. In addition, during the opening hours, disabled persons, specific groups, active and retired military personnel, firefighters and rescuers, family members of fallen heroes, and people aged at 18 and below entered the park with valid credentials.

Favorable policies of the Expo will continue. The “Happy Chengdu, Images of the Expo” themed photography exhibition, which debuted during the National Day holiday, will be on display until the end of October.

Before the conclusion of the Expo, which falls on October 28, visitors will have more experiences at shows and activities to be held at the venues.
