"As the holiday is drawing to a close, I, together with my family and friends, paid the special visit to the main venue of the Chengdu EXPO. The weather is pleasant, and the experience is so great," said Ms. Li, a Chengdu resident, on October 6.
When coming to the square outside the main exhibition hall, the reporter saw non-player characters (NPCs) dressed as Du Fu and Li Bai, who are both famous poets in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), performing an exciting show. The event kicked off with a little melodrama, attracting many visitors to participate. The participants were divided into teams to compete and recite old poems together. The visitors felt fully engaged and were rewarded with small gifts from the organizers, creating a joyful festive atmosphere on site.
In the afternoon, at the opening ceremony of the December Market · Medicine Market on the Chengdu Time Street, a piece of rearranged classic music of the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1276) was performed. The band members, dressed in Song Dynasty costumes, played wind instruments including flute, pipe, and sheng, accompanied by orchestral and Sizhu music, as well as percussion music, vividly presenting a social scene of the Song Dynasty (960-1127). In addition, the event integrated consumption resources involving healthcare, traditional Chinese medicine culture, as well as leisure and wellness, offering various interesting activities and programs.
At a beach music party on the Crescent Beach, which has a strong holiday atmosphere featuring a ferris wheel, sunbathing loungers and surfboards. A music band and its singers created a romantic purple ambience, attracting many tourists to watch and take photos.
At night, Chengdu in the Picture Scroll, a spectacular 3D water screen dance show was staged. It combines traditional and modern dance, providing visitors with a unique experience full of modern technology and artistic aesthetics. Additionally, the musical Old Chengdu, which is themed around famous Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai, offered the audience an unforgettable interactive experience on the beautiful autumn night.
"I didn’t expect it to be so much fun. Not only did we enjoy different garden landscapes from around the world, but there were so many interactive activities for visitors. We had a really great day," said Zhou Jun, a university student from Chongqing, who expressed to have a wonderful time with his classmates at the EXPO.
During the National Day holiday, the EXPO organizers provided a variety of cultural activities and events, including light and shadow shows, cultural performances, and interactive programs, to create fresh immersive cultural and tourist experiences for visitors. By October 5, the EXPO Park has received over 300,000 people during the holiday.
