On October 22, invited by the Chengdu Eastern New Area, over 100 excellent tour guides and commentators, including those who have obtained national or provincial titles of honor, social media influencers from Chengdu, and representatives of guides who can speak foreign languages, gathered together at a tourism promotion and exchange event. Through promotional campaigns, site tours and other activities, the event is aimed to showcase the Area’s cultural and tourist resources, promote its cooperation and exchange with potential partners in the tourist sector, as well as to let more people have a better understanding of the International Horticultural Exhibition 2024 Chengdu (the EXPO).
At the event, eight major cultural and tourist attractions, including the EXPO Park, Sancha Lake, Danjingtai Scenic Spot, and Danjing Valley Rafting Base project, as well as nine high-quality hotels, including the Tianfu International Hotel and Sancha Lake Fanshuteng Resort Hotel, presented their unique cultural and tourist resources. Zhang Qun, an outstanding tour guide, representing all the other counterparts, gave a speech.
After the event, the tour guides visited the main venue of the EXPO and exchanged their views about the promotion of the site. The venue covers 242.2 hectares, with a seven areas, six pavilions and 113 exhibition gardens. The gardens feature horticulture and gardening styles of different countries and regions across the world. The 186-day event is scheduled to end on October 28. Currently, the venue is in the post-EXPO operation phase. So far, it has received over 3 million visitors.
The main pavilion, adorned with one million metal ginkgo leaves, highly impressed the guides, and the international horticultural exhibition areas kept them snapping photos. All of them expressed that they were mesmerized by the "Tianfu Eye" ferris wheel which offers a panoramic view of the EXPO Park and the Chinese horticultural gardens made by Chengdu, Beijing and Shanghai.
"We usually come here for work, but today we experienced it as a tourist. It feels completely different, and it’s fantastic! It’s definitely worth bringing more tour groups here in the future," said one guide.
A relevant person in charge of the Cultural Tourism and Sports Bureau of the Chengdu Eastern New Area stated, "Guides, as a bridge in the travel industry, play a vital role in promoting high-quality cultural and tourism development. They are the leading people who help visitors understand a city better, and they are the promoters of a city’s traditional culture and modern civilization. We sincerely hope that the representatives will become tourism ambassadors and development partners of the Chengdu Eastern New Area. We expect that this event will serve as an opportunity to facilitate communication and exchange, build market platforms, and promote the high-quality development of the Area and Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle in the cultural tourism industry."
